The trigger for this, as usual, came by chance ... You use two digital cables, which are apparently identical, and you can easily notice audible differences. Some work in the lab showed that the cables were badly manufactured and showed a short circuit at high frequencies!

More research on a broad range of different types of cables, brands and price categories showed up some horrible results: Many, even high priced cables, differ from one to anothr as well as measured forward and backwards.

As we were not happy with these results we started our own project which were called later on »cicable«.

Soon it became clear that the problems we found with digital cables happened also with analoque interconnects. This generated a basic rule: of course, cables should be »good« in technical respects, but beside from this they have to be produced carefully, individually measured, checked and piece by piece, selected and matched as pairs.
